Our Neighbourhood

Ashling Hotel is set in Parkgate Street Dublin 8, a quaint, rejuvenated area of Dublin, surrounded by Stoneybatter, Phoenix Park, Dublin Zoo and many visitor attractions. Our neighbourhood is loved by both visitors and locals alike, for it’s wonderfully unique shops and restaurants, historical sites, visitor centres, transport links and close proximity to Dublin City Centre.

Our neighbourhood, with its ever-evolving amenities and established communities is steeped in Dublin history and has a number of close by historical attractions; Collins Barracks, Four Courts, Guinness Brewery and a number of famous whiskey distilleries.

We are located close to the famous, Dublin Liberties, an area of Dublin where traditional trades and industries such as distilling, brewing, knitting, baking had flourished. We are still privileged as visitors and locals to see this today, with the Smithfield’s open markets.

The Guinness Storehouse, located near Temple Bar is just a 10 minute walk from the Ashling Hotel. It is the perfect place for legendary stout tasting and taking in the history of Ireland’s most popular beverage.

Dublin 8, is home to many acclaimed landmarks, such as Europe’s largest enclosed park, Phoenix Park and home to Ireland’s iconic black beer, Guinness. History was made in this area of Dublin, from the Kilmainham Jail, and the medieval Christ Church Cathedral, which people can still visit today for both solo and guided tours. Get an insight into Viking history at Dublinia or some native talent at the Irish Museum of Modern Art.

Also known as the Liberties district, Dublin 8 still holds dear that retro “Old – Dublin” vibe by hosting their Smithfield open markets. As you walk down the cobblestoned street, artisans will be showcasing and selling local Irish produce from food, jewellery, beauty, clothing and home baking. There is a great sense of genuine Irishness to this area, an authenticity that will have you longing to return.

Heuston Station

One of the many benefits of staying at Ashling Hotel is our proximity to Heuston Station. Located just 3 minutes walk away, there is no need to worry about taxi’s. Take a trip into Dublin on the Luas or venture further across Ireland for a day trip, in comfort as you sit back and enjoy the Irish scenery.

The Luas is a tram/light rail system in Dublin with two main lines, The Green Line and The Red Line. Both lines have been extended and spilt into different branches further out from the city. Ashling Hotel is situated on the Red Luas Line equal distance between Museum and Heuston Station stops, both stops just five minutes away by foot.
