Top Family Attractions over Easter Holiday

Table of Contents

If you’re planning an Easter break with your family, Dublin is a great destination. The Easter weekend is the first weekend of the year that we want to spend more time enjoying the improved weather (we hope!) and outdoor activities are top of the list. There are dozens of great things to do for families and children in Dublin, many of which are suitable for all ages. Before you add to your to-do list, first book the ideal family hotel accommodation in Dublin. Ashling Hotel is ideal for families of all shapes and sizes with flexible room types and great dining options. Our location between Phoenix Park and the city centre means you enjoy the best of both worlds, making unforgettable memories with your little ones. Book on our website to enjoy our best available rates.

Dublin Zoo

Top of the list, always, is the brilliant Dublin Zoo. Well known as one of the top family-friendly visitor attractions in Ireland, the zoo has been a place for many family and childhood memories since it opened in 1831. Spend a whole day exploring the different habitats of over 400 animals from all over the globe, which includes many rare and endangered species. Its set against the backdrop of the beautiful Phoenix Park where you can enjoy watching wild deer, picnic in wide open spaces and visiting the presidents house.

National Museums

One of the real treasures of Dublin is the diversity of our National Museums. They’re free to enter and open 6 days a week, offering an educational and interesting day out for families. Over the Easter Break you’ll se free workshops and classes for little ones like the Easter egg decoration workshop taking place on 31st March from 1.30-3.30 pm in the National Museum of Ireland. Prebooking is not required and it’s a perfect pitstop on your way to playgrounds, parks or shops in town.

Jumpzone

Tire out little legs with a very active afternoon in Jumpzone. These world-class trampoline and inflatable sports adventure parks have venues in Liffey Valley, Sandyford, and Santry so you’re never too far away. They have trampolines, climbing frames, foam pits and much more and their free jump sessions are just as fun. They can organise packages to suit families or parties and the kids are guaranteed to get a great night’s sleep after an afternoon jumping!

Playgrounds

Dublin has plenty of green spaces, many of which have great playgrounds, an ideal way to spend an afternoon if the weather cooperates. Phoenix Park, practically the back garden of our Dublin hotel, has a large playground surrounded by plenty of green space for garden games like skipping, chasing, hide and seek etc. In the City, Merrion Square Park has excellent playground facilities with some unusual features like a giants playground and thrilling swings and slides. Stephens Green also has a large playground close to shops, restaurants and cafes.

Play Centres

If the weather doesn’t play its role in your Easter getaway in Dublin, play centres might be a better option. These indoor playgrounds are a safe and dry place for your little ones to burn the energy they usually use in school. They’re usually suitable for all ages with special zones for smaller children keeping them from the bigger, more boisterous age groups. There are a few to choose from like Pirates Cove at Liffey Valley Shopping Centre, Funky Monkey in Dundrum and Mr B’s Kids Play Centre in Rathfarnham.

Croke Park

If you have a little one who loves sport, they’d love a tour of the brilliant Croke Park Stadium. At Easter they have a very special workshop that’s educational and fun. They’ll love making their very own sports bear, bunny, chick, or lamb, followed by a guided
tour of Croke Park Stadium with their furry friend. They’ll enjoy a workshop in Cú
Chulainn’s Den and can customise their bear with a name, a heart, a GAA
Museum training kit and a birth cert. Spots are limited so book soon to avoid disappointment.
